The opportunity
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic individual, who is also versatile and able to meet the needs of our members and patrons in the role of Senior Learn to Swim Instructor for a maximum term ceasing Friday, 1 October 2027.
Responsible for providing a safe, stimulating and fun lessons, which build confidence and capability in developing young people. You will need to be a strong communicator to motivate and educate our patrons to build strong, active and safe behaviors in the water. The Senior Learn to Swim Instructor will create and review the swim program, deliver classes, undertake assessments of client’s swim skills and abilities, and supervise the Learn to Swim Instructors.
If you are a safety conscious Learn to Swim Instructor with supervisory experience, strong people skills and an infectious energy, this could be the opportunity for you to help us provide a service that is much needed in our community.
The position is part time 20 hours per week which will include scheduled class time and administrative time out of the water. Days and times can be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Essential key criteria to be addressed in applications
- Demonstrated previous experience supervising others.
- Previous experience planning, delivering and evaluating learn to swim programs.
- Accredited AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety, and Teacher of Infants and Preschool.
- Current and valid NSW working with children check and national police check.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with participants of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise work to achieve set objectives.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment. The salary is commencing at $32.69 per hour with progression up to $36.08 per hour dependent upon skills and experience.
